Blaise Castle - park, estate and hamlet
Blaise Castle is an 18th-century mansion house and estate near Henbury. The museum is housed in a late 18th century, Grade II listed mansion and is home to everyday objects from centuries past, including Victorian toilets and baths, kitchen and laundry equipment, model trains, dolls, toys and period costume in the museum.
The estate includes a folly castle on a hill above the gorge overlooking Bristol, Avonmouth and the Avon Gorge, with views across to South Wales and is open on some summer Sundays. Just across the road is Blaise Hamlet which consists of nine, unique rustic cottages around a green.
Other features within the estate include two pools: the Giant's Soapdish and the Penny Well and two caves: the Robber's Cave and the Butcher's Cave and a lovely walk through the woods and by the river. This is a great park to explore - just remember to pack a towel!
This is a lovely park for children to run off lots of energy in, fly kites, walk dogs, ride bikes, have picnics etc .
Play area and cafe
There is a substantial dog-free play area and the park is a firm favourite with children from all over Bristol. The play area is split into areas for younger children which includes a large sand pit, climbing frames, a slide and swings. For older children there are climbing towers, tube slides, a zip wire, high swings, a tree house climbing frame, basket swing, roundabout, seesaw, trampoline, speaking tubes and picnic benches set in a large area of grass.
There's a cafe with toilet and baby changing facilities.
