The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre
The displays include original documents, a replica of Roald Dahl's writing hut, top tips from today's leading authors and lots of interactive games. Perfect to spark the imaginations of 6 to 12 year olds and their families.
Storytelling galore, poetry, dragons, comics and more...
Get creative with our free craft activities in the craft room at the back of the Story Centre and enjoy our free story-telling sessions in the courtyard or in Miss Honey's classroom if it rains. These activities are available every day throughout the Buckinghamshire school holidays and do not need to be booked.
Alternatively, why not explore the month by month events calendar to find out what fantabulous workshops you can enjoy? We offer everything from whizzpopping, hands-on science workshops to puppet-making, drama and delumptious cookery classes.

Situated in the village where Roald Dahl lived and wrote for 36 years, the Museum was created as a home for the author's unique archive (which you can see on our regular tours; see What's on for details) and to inspire a love of stories and creative writing in all our visitors.
To find out more about what's in the Museum go to What's in the Museum? and visit our Image gallery.
Visit length: Visitors usually stay for between one hour and 90 minutes though many stay longer, particularly if they join in one of our activities or enjoy a snack in our cafe.
Events and activities In the School holidays and at weekends: we run an exciting range of workshops, events and free storytelling sessions. Free craft activities are always on offer, while our Village Trail leads you around Great Missenden to see the places that feature in the stories. Go to the What's on section on our website for more information.
FOR SCHOOLS....... Our great little Museum will inspire pupils from Year 3 to Year 7 to find pleasure in reading and writing creatively. Taking the lead from one of the world's greatest children's authors, pupils will be encouraged to play with language, create colourful characters and think up perfect plots. The biographical galleries reveal the stories behind the stories, while the Story Centre lets pupils' imaginations take centre stage. Here they can create a stop-frame animation, fashion a photo-fit character and explore a replica of Roald Dahl's famous writing hut, all the while dressed as a character of their own invention - or Roald Dahl's.
Under 5's free. Annual Passes Available
By train to Great Missenden 3 min walk. By car: the village is off the A413 between Amersham and Wendover. The museum is signposted.
Open Tue-Sun 10am to 5pm. Closed Mondays but open Bank Holiday Monday's and half term Monday's
