Luton Museum - Stockwood Park Museum
Luton's Stockwood Park Museum is undergoing a £6m transformation thanks to a £3.7m cash injection from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), along with the recent award of £1.2m objective 2 European funding and funding from other generous external supporters. Plans are now progressing in Stockwood Park, Luton, to create the Stockwood Discovery Centre, a free museum and visitor attraction that will include: fascinating interactive displays about the history of the area including the former Stockwood House new gardens to complement the current period gardens. These will include sensory, world and medicinal gardens a visitor centre with a brand-new shop and cafe an outdoor children's discovery area exciting changing exhibitions attractive new corporate entertainment/meeting room facilities for hire.
The museum is currently closed for development work. Re-opens July 2008, but why not come and find out the latest about the Stockwood Discovery Centre. Tour of the site: 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30 (40 minutes). Sun 30 Mar Free, but please book on 01582 73 87 14
