Young Driver: lessons for 10-17 yr olds

Young Driver: Driving lessons for 10-17 year olds

Young Driver offers driving lessons to 10-17 year olds. Dual controlled SKODA Citigo cars are used and tuition is provided by highly qualified driving instructors. A whole road system is created on private land, to help the drivers learn everything from changing gears and parking to using roundabouts and manoeuvring a slalom.

Lessons mirror those taken on the road at 17, but give youngsters the chance to take their time without any pressure to pass a test. A personalised Drive Diary charts how they get on, and is useful to pass on to their driving instructor at 17.

Motoring expert and presenter Quentin Willson supports Young Driver, saying: “Both my son, age 17, and daughter, age 11, have had driving lessons with Young Driver. I think it’s vital - it’s a road safety revolution in the making.”

The scheme was launched in 2009, and is sponsored by Admiral and SKODA. There are now more than 45 venues across the UK. Driving tuition is available for disabled youngsters and Young Driver can also cater for birthday parties. Thirty and sixty minute lessons are available and must be booked in advance.
