Family days out at Morden Hall Park
Morden Hall Park is green oasis in the city, giving you a taste of a country estate with a glimpse of its agricultural and industrial history. This tranquil former deer park is one of the few remaining estates that used to line the River Wandle during its industrial heyday.
The river meanders through the park creating a haven for wildlife. The snuff mills, which generated the park's income in the past, survive to this day. We've renovated the western mill, and it's now used as a learning centre.
When you step through the gates, you'd be forgiven for imagining yourself to be in the middle of the English countryside. Surrounded by meadows, trees and the gentle sounds of birdsong and running water, the park offers a rare sense of discovery and a chance to get away from it all. The renovated Stable Yard is the heart of the park with a café, second-hand bookshop and a living green centre with exhibitions.Entry to the park is free for all.
Whether your enjoying time together as a family or looking for something more structured, we have loads on offer for families in the park.
Adventure Play Area
A favourite with all of our visitors, our adventure play area was designed to encourage children to take a more adventurous look at play. There's swings, a play structure, and a zipwire to help let off steam and imagine your own adventures.
50 Things to do before you're 11¾
Some of the best fun you can have is outside, but the National Trust is aware that sometimes its difficult to find ways to help children engage with the outdoors in a way that's fun and informative. To help, we've created the 50 Things to do before you're 11¾ list which has 50 different outdoor activities for children to do, from climbing trees to playing conkers. To help get started, pick up a "50 Things" scrapbook from a leaflet holder on site and start exploring.
