Living History at the Commandery

Living History at the Commandery

Come face to face with the past at The Commandery’s biggest weekend of the year!

Explore living history encampments and watch marvellous military and cavalry displays at Worcester’s historic Commandery.

The site will be alive with performances by musicians and dancers, and you can learn about traditional crafts too.

Encounter reenactors throughout the beautiful Grade-1 listed building and gardens, where they’ll be demonstrating and displaying historical weaponry.

There will be a full schedule of timed displays and drills throughout the day.

There is no need to book for the Living History event. Usual admission applies; free admission to those with a season or residents’ pass. Saturday opening hours 10am – 5pm. Sunday opening hours 11am – 3pm.

Living History 2023 is organised in partnership with The Worcester Re-enactors.

The Commandery is a beautiful building and garden where you can encounter the past brought to life…

Set in the heart of historic Worcester, The Commandery is most famous for being the Royalist Headquarters during the deciding battle of the English Civil War – the Battle of Worcester 1651.

The Commandery is the perfect place for a family day out – get to know your fearsome weapons, discover historic displays, and become an explorer in the spacious walled gardens.

Round off your visit at the independent canal-side café on site, Commandery Coffee, which serves delicious home-made food, artisan coffee and loose-leaf teas.
