The Engine House at Highley
Leave the train at Highley for a visit to The Engine House, our exciting Visitor & Education Centre.
Home to our reserve collection of full-size steam locomotives, the stunning Engine House Centre at Highley takes you on a fascinating journey behind the scenes.
Marvel at the massive locomotives, delve into the intriguing history of Britain's railways, enjoy themed exhibitions of unique railway vehicles and meet the engine that collided with a camel! A well-stocked gift shop and our restaurant, the 'Flag & Whistle Food Stop', with its panoramic views across the Severn Valley, also awaits.
This stunning building houses our reserve collection of steam locomotives, along with railway-themed exhibitions, such as the Royal Postal Carriage. You can climb on board and look around!
This is a great place to break your journey for a bite to eat and to watch the trains go by. And what's even better, entry to The Engine House is FREE with your 'Freedom of the Line' ticket.
There's also a small, enclosed children's playground. Perfect for little ones! Watch the trains go by whilst they have a play outside.
Dogs are allowed into The Engine House free of charge. However, except for assistance dogs, they are not permitted on the first floor, including the restaurant, and must stay on the ground floor.
The Engine House also runs children's activities during most school holidays. Check out the Severn Valley Railway website for details.
