Museum of Carpet

Museum of Carpet

Celebrating the 300 year old history of carpet making, the Museum of Carpet is packed full of things to do and see for all out visitors, whatever your age. Discover what life would have been like in the mills and factories that made Kidderminster's famous floorcovering.

We're even based in Stour Vale Mill, which was once home to carpet manufacturer, Woodward Grosvenor.

Have fun with our 'hands-on, try out' exhibits and activities. Why not see if you can find the mistakes in our woven carpet sample? Perhaps you'd like to have a go at hand weaving on our child friendly looms? Or maybe, you'd just like to watch our giant machines as they clatter and bang, making carpet before your eyes. Why not see if you could be a carpet designer? Have a go on our 'design your own carpet' interactive and see what patterns you can create.

Or if you'd prefer, why not explore the Museum with one of our trails and puzzles.

Events and Exhibitions
We run a great programme of family activities which include arts and crat sessions, craft skills such as knitting and weaving as well as science. We also run family friendly temporary exhibitions, designed to offer a great family day out.

Baby changing facilities available.

Gift Shop: The museum has a gift shop with an extensive range of books, posters, educational resources and gifts for all ages.

Venue hire:
Why not hold a children's birthday party at the Museum where everyone gets to make something to take home. Activities include T-shirt painting, craft activities and a great range of arts things to do.

Directions: We're based in Green Street, just five mins walk from the main shopping centre and the Town Hall. We're about 10 mins walk from the Severn Valley Railway station at Kidderminster.

Opening Times: Tuesday - Saturday, 10.30am - 16.30pm Closed Sundays, Mondays and Bank Holidays.
