6 Ways to Save this Summer

save-header.jpg

19_ironbridge.jpgThe summer holidays can be an expensive time of year, so here are a few ways your family can save this summer.

1. Unlimited Return:
Many attractions now offer free returns.  Ironbridge Museums Trust  has a great offer for families. The Annual Passport Ticket allows unlimited daytime admission to all 10 Ironbridge Gorge Museums, during normal opening hours. This includes the Victorian Town, Blists Hill as well as the indoor interactive musumu, Enginuity.

If your family loves animals, how about becoming a member of Dudley Zoo? It's only £27 so pays for itself in just three visits and you then qualify for unlimited access to the zoo and castle!

The Black Country Museum offer the ˜Unchained Pass'. All full-priced tickets are valid for 12 months from your first visit to the Museum for an unlimited number of visits  - so you can return as often as you like!

2. Discounts:
Your local tourist office may offer special deals for local   attractions. Bewdley Tourist Office sells discounted tickets for both Severn Valley Railway and West Midland Safari Park. Raring2go! website members should check out our online offers for attractions, both locally and further afield, such as Alton Towers, Legoland, or Chessington World of Adventures.

3. 2 for 1:
Did you know, you qualify for 2 for 1 vouchers to attractions, museums and restaurants when you travel by National Rail. Head to Birmingham and enjoy 2for1 entry to the Sealife Centre or Think Tank or how about an 19_SVR_summerfamilies-web.jpgadventure in London: get 2for1 for London Dungeon! Buy a National Rail ticket, register with Days Out Guide (www.daysoutguide.co.uk) and print the vouchers. You need to print a voucher AND have a valid rail ticket with the closest  station to the attraction as the final destination. (Sometimes it's cheaper to do this even if you don't actually travel by train to get there! Just stop off at the station and buy the ticket.)

4. Book in Advance:
There are savings to be made if you plan ahead. If you know which day you'd like to visit an attraction you can usually save money by booking ahead online. Book at least 7 days in advance for Drayton Manor Theme Park and save £43 on a family ticket.

You'll also save by pre-booking tickets with Severn Valley  Railway and West Midland Safari Park. Hatton Adventure World are offering a FREE adult entrance when you book in advance online.

5. Clubcard Points:
Do you shop at Tesco? We often spend our Tesco Clubcard points on days out and you get up to four times the vouchers' face value, eg, £2.50 worth of  Clubcard vouchers gets you £10 worth of Clubcard tokens which you can use for entry to Ironbridge, Black Country Living Museum or West  Midland Safari Park!

6 Free stuff:
Believe it or not, there are lots of free activities on our doorstep. The Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley will be running free trails for families and clent.jpglocal parks will be hosting free sport and games during the summer holidays. Wyre Forest Sports Team will also be out and about in Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport Parks this summer offering games and activities for free.

The science garden at the Think Tank, Birmingham, is open to the public for free, each day from 3pm.

Or visit the BBC Public Space at the Mailbox in Birmingham, where you can have a go at presenting the weather for free!

Collect a free family activity bag from the Wyre Forest Discovery Centre. It contains lots of ideas for things to do while you walk around the forest, or take part in the free trail.

I'd love to hear your money saving tips too. Come and share with us on Facebook
