By Matt Loftus.

I’m so excited about this!  I have a NEW training venue in Worcestershire – at the very place I started my own teaching career, almost twenty years ago!

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill-health and provide help on a first aid basis.  From November 2021, I will be providing the following MHFA courses, either in-person at the SAET Training Centre, or online via Zoom:

Half day Youth Aware - This half day session raises awareness of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and self-harm. Ideal for those wanting to increase their knowledge about mental health. This course is also available for students aged 16 and above.

2-day Youth MHFA – This two-day course is delivered across four manageable sessions and includes practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues. Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. On completion, you will be a certified Youth Mental Health First Aider.

“50% of mental ill health starts by age 15 and 75% develops by age 18”

MHFA England, 2018.

It’s never been more important to understand how to spot the early warning signs of mental ill health, with more young people experiencing loneliness and increased anxiety throughout 42bf3654579289ccea5f2736f9f65a09.jpgthe pandemic.  Understanding how these feelings can be identified and what to do about it, is now a vital skill for anybody working with or caring for young people.

If you’d like to know more about Mental Health First Aid training and how it may help you in your role, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch – I’m always very happy to chat!
