ce4c7c9e16315ae853eef646ec470000.jpgBlack Country Foodbank have had a busy first half of the year providing emergency food parcels for individuals and families experiencing hardship or crisis across the Black Country. During the first quarter of 2016 the charity provided food for 5000 people, 2000 of these were children. This is a 42% increase on last year figures.

Clients find themselves in a position of crisis for many reasons, benefit issues, debt, mental illness, unemployment, homelessness, to name but a few. When clients arrive at one of our Distribution Centres, they often feel very nervous, unsure and vulnerable. Volunteers at the Centres aim to make the client feel safe, secure and offer time to chat along with a hot drink while their food parcel is being prepared. In a lot of cases the client can be referred on to other organisations that can help them in the longer term. Black Country Foodbank provides a breathing space for many.

Stock levels at the warehouse in Albion Street, Brierley Hill have been maintained due to the generosity of donors. The charity relies entirely on donors for all the contributions of food and continues to be overwhelmed by the on-going support from so many.

Black Country Foodbank receives donations of food and toiletries from Churches, school, businesses and individuals. Donations can be made at any of the Distribution Centres and any of the collection points. All the details can be found on the website
