Allegiant by Veronica Roth

What is it about?

Allegiant is the third and final book in the trilogy of the Divergent series. Allegiant is about an organisation, led by Johanna Reyes (leader of Amity) and Cara, who offer an opportunity to a group of young adults: Tris, Tobias, Peter, Tori, Christina, Uriah and Caleb to go beyond the fence,  and discover a new world free of complicated lies, tangled loyalties and memories that are too painful to bear.

What did you like about the book?

Some things I liked about the book are, how Natalie Prior came from beyond the fence and moved into Chicago as she was rescued from the fringe by the Bureau of Genetic Welfare and was very close to David. Also, how Amar (Fours initiate instructor) and George (Tori’s brother) had to fake their death because of their divergence. Last but not least, Tris sacrificed herself rather than her brother (Caleb), despite him betraying her. She took the death serum as she had a higher chance of survival; due to her being one hundred percent Divergent. Until David shot her multiple times in her stomach.

What didn’t you like about the book?

One thing that I did not like about Allegiant was how the chapters alternated between Tris and Tobias because both of them were talking from nearly the same point of view and I would forget whose perspective I was reading from.

Would you recommend this book to others?

I would definitely recommend this book to children over the age of 11, as it is fascinating and captivating, with lots of twists and turns.

Marshmallow Skye by Cathy Cassidy
What is it about?
This book is about a girl called Marshmallow Skye, who has four sisters and one stepsister. Skye has a twin sister called Summer who were best friends when they were younger. But, as they got older, they went off at different paths and liked different things. Skye always felt that she was living under the shadow of her twin sister, and was tired of being second best. So when Skye comes across a trunk full of belongings of a dead relative, Clara Trevings, she felt it was an opportunity for her to be different. She tries to unlock the mystery surrounding Clara and at the same time, starts to dream of her memories. Will Sype be able to tell the difference between dreams and reality?

What did you like about the book?
I thought the book was heart warming, interesting and well written. I really enjoyed the plot and how everything that happens is connected. The characters were very nicely thought out and each of them had their own story.
