Landguard Fort

Discover the rich military and maritime heritage of Landguard Fort, one of England's best preserved coastal defences, with a history spanning almost 450 years. With a maze of rooms and passageways, bastion view points, artefacts, displays, exhibitions and special events, Landguard Fort offers something for all ages and interests.

Explore the fascinating artefacts and collections of Felixstowe Museum, which brings alive the military and social history of this seaside town. A real 'hidden' treasure - adults and children alike can discover all sorts of amazing stuff in fourteen different rooms, from costumes and model planes, to fossils and toys. There are also special events, learning activities and new themed exhibitions each season to enjoy.

Take time to visit our wonderful Nature Reserve at Landguard. Covering approximately 33 hectares (81 acres) this shingle spit on the southern tip of Suffolk's stunning coastline offers a variety of flora and fauna. Unusual and rare plants, migrating birds, military history and huge ships arriving and departing at Britain's busiest container port.

Make sure you stop off at the Landguard Visitor Centre and View Point Cafe with its hands-on displays, videos and exhibits on the attractions of the Peninsula. Enjoy some fish and chips or an ice cream as you enjoy the spectacular views of the Orwell estuary and Port of Felixstowe.
