Jimmy's Farm

Jimmy's Farm

On Jimmy's Farm, each time you visit, you can be sure there will be something new to see and explore! You may well have seen Jimmy on his TV programmes; 'Jimmy Doherty's Farming Hero's' or 'Jimmy's Farm', so if you haven't been yet, make sure you do, where a perfect day out can be enjoyed by all.

The latest attraction is the new Butterfly House where you can see many beautiful exotic varieties flying around in their re-created, sub-tropical habitat along with Chinese quail, zebra finches & canaries. Watch out for the new butterfly garden being created outside the Butterfly House to encourage our native butterflies to live and breed. The firm favourites at the farm are the four varieties of pig, Jacob sheep, pygmy goats, rabbits and chickens and children can pet and feed them.

The Guinea Pig Village is a delight to watch as the 'pigs' run between their custom built houses and you can pet the ferrets housed at Ferret World. Children can let off steam in the adventure playground and explore the woods on the nature trail. Signs along the trail point out the different trees in the woods and you can have a lot of fun building dens out of the branches left purposefully in the Witches Den area.

The paths have been created to allow young and old to explore but be aware there are a few steps if you are taking your pushchair along! Don't forget to visit the herb, vegetable & Darwin's garden area to view the results of all Caela's hard work and see if your children can spot the friendly scarecrow people. Of course, a visit wouldn't be complete without sampling some of Jimmy's famous produce, so pop into the Farm Shop where you can find a mouth watering display of locally sourced produce. Or you could take a break in the Farm Field Kitchen & enjoy a Jimmy's Farm Sausage, steak burger or afternoon tea, allowing you to sample the very best of British produce straight from the field to the fork.

Jimmy and his team are passionate about using traditional farming methods and bringing wildlife and ecology together so for our all teacher readers, don't forget you can treat your class to an educational visit. Although a day on the farm is a fantastic experience for the family, there are children's courses available throughout term-time and the school holidays. Your offspring could try their hands at making sausages or becoming a farmer for the day!
