Newby Hall and Gardens, Ripon
Explore the 25 acres of award winning family friendly gardens at Newby Hall
Not forgetting the the Hall itself which epitomises the Georgian Age of elegance.
Newby Hall's exciting Adventure Garden has been thoughtfully and safely designed for children of all ages from swings for toddlers through to climbing frames and bridges, an aerial slide and pedalo boats for the older children. Get wet in the water play area - six jets of water spring out from the ground, forming arcs of different height and length, making a spidery pattern in three dimensions. Then suddenly the jets are cut off, so that the arcs of water dive into the holes like performing eels
Some parts of the childrens adventure garden comprising many slides, climbing frames, swings, sandpits, are suitable for handicapped users
Take a truly enchanting ride on the miniature stream train, or take a boat ride on the River Ure.
The Newby Hall Miniature Railway is a delightful ride which runs along the River Ure with fantastic views of the gardens. The Railway first opened in 1971, originally an end to end line, built by Cromar White. The line now extended, runs parallel to the river in the shape of a dumb-bell loop. Locomotives used on the railway are two Severn Lamb Western gas locomotives.
