Avon Gave me a Second Chance
In 2006 when her son, James, had started school, Fiona from Canterbury, started her Avon journey. At this time, Fiona was unfortunately suffering from depression and found it difficult at her full-time job; she needed something more flexible that would allow her to balance her working and family life better.
For 17 years before having her son, Fiona was working as a manager at British Telecom. Unable to get suitable hours, she left this role. Soon after, she unfortunately had to have a hysterectomy, which was the start of an emotional period in her life. Little did she know, Avon would come calling and change her life.
She received a text from someone who worked for Avon, Alison Allen, telling her to come to a meeting about signing up. After a bit of persuasion she took her up on her offer and has never looked back.
Now a Sales Leader, Fiona has a team of over 70 Representatives and absolutely loves her job. She spends her time supporting her team with training and regular support and has made some life-long friends. Her son James, now 10, is Avon obsessed and even comes out to help her on her with her business.
At first, she didn't think she had the right skills set to succeed in a direct selling role. She felt as though she was too introverted and wouldn't be able to approach strangers. However, she has since realised that she does have the confidence within her, and once the business started to grow so did she as a person.
Fiona says people don't realise the potential of Avon. Not just financially but what it does for a person. I was a mother, struggling with my own personal issues and didn't feel like I could work again¦ now I feel confident, have a new group of fantastic friends and get to meet new people all the time that I wouldn't without Avon.
I do tend to approach a lot of mothers because I understand the struggle with balancing childcare costs, spending time with the family and earning money. Avon offers you complete flexibility. You can earn as little or as much as you want and need, it all just depends how much you put into it. It's wonderful to watch my team grow with the recruitment of many women seeking something that will give them power and freedom.
