Steeped in nearly 300 years of history, this eighteen-century garden is a green oasis in the heart of Surrey within easy reach of London.
Once a Dukes' retreat and a playground for princesses, Claremont Landscape Garden has always been somewhere to escape everyday life and enjoy simple pleasures with family and friends. Many of the great names in garden history played a part in the creation and development of the estate.

The children's play area at Claremont is a great place for young children to run off steam. For older, adventurous children. Climb the mound to build a den and get in touch with your wild side. Then recharge the batteries from our tempting array of homemade cakes and light lunches in our cafe. Don't forget to ask about our children's snack packs. Plus there are colouring sheets, crayons and children's books to help you keep the little ones entertained.
Don't forget to..
- Feed the birds (Buy a bag of bird food from the kiosk for a small donation).
- Have a picnic
- Find a picturesque spot and relax besides the lake.
- Race to the top - who will be the first to enjoy the view from the Amphitheatre?
Whatever your mood or whoever you're with, make our garden your sanctuary. And if it's raining, just borrow a brolly from the kiosk! Put on your wellies, search for the muddiest puddles you can find and have fun.
Can you tick off any of the activities on the National Trust's 50 things to do before you're 11 3/4 at Claremont?
