19 & 30 December: Make And Play Engineers – Winter Magic
Winter is a beautiful season full of play. Each year we are hoping for a beautiful snowy winter. While this may not be the case, we will still enjoy winter fun at Coventry Transport Museum!
Ages 4 – 7, but all are welcome
Enjoy a snowball throwing challenge by setting up your own targets with the material we give you. Play, experiment (and learn) about the symmetry of snowflakes. Let’s work together on taking a little winter magic with us and make our own (fake) snow. Can we get our snow right to build a snowman?
22 & 29 December: This Makes That With These – Looking At The Stars
Is your child curious? Imaginative? A problem solver? If you can say yes to any of these questions, then you know a super engineer in the making!
Ages 7+, but all are welcome.
Have you ever wondered what’s inside a toaster, computer mouse, kitchen scales, or toys? This is an opportunity to embrace and discover your child’s engineering skills using a variety of everyday items.
While themes may change, sessions will always be hands-on, providing an opportunity take everyday things apart to understand how they work, before seeing how imaginative you can be when building your own invention.
This time we are setting ourselves a specific challenge: will we be able to make something that shows off star constellations from our winter night sky? What will you need to take apart to get the required components? What could you make to fulfil the challenge? Will it be a rotating night light, or will you attempt to make a telescope?
So, what will you end up taking apart? What kind of star invention will you end up making?
