The Black Horse Beamish
Perched high looking across the Beamish conservation valley lies Red Row Estate - a glorious 37 acre sprawl with lavender field and apple orchard, riddled with wildlife and farmyard antiques, and home to the family friendly Black Horse Beamish, The Orchard Marquee, Old Red Row Rooms, Red Row Retreat, and Huckleberry Cottage.
The original building dates from 1760 and after a thorough renovation, Black Horse Beamish opened in November 2009. Retaining all of its charm and atmosphere, welcoming you with its open fires, flag stone flooring, and a clever mix of eclectic furniture. As well as having a beautiful restaurant and a traditional pub bar, there are 12 very comfortable, individually furnished bedrooms in Old Red Row Rooms, Red Row Retreat and Huckleberry Cottage.
The menu celebrates everything that is great about local produce and reflects the changing seasons. Ingredients are carefully selected by the kitchen team for their quality and will always be organic where possible. Utilising the on site vegetable and herb gardens to stock the pantry with the freshest organic produce. The Black Horse Beamish supports British farmers, heritage breeds and artisan producers, demonstrated by the high-quality meat. The wine list showcases small wineries that produce wines that are crafted with respect for the environment.
The restaurant and Orangery have panoramic views of the idyllic Beamish conservation valley. The kitchen is open so diners can see for themselves how food is prepared. The atmospheric private dining room, ‘The George Ridley Room’ seats up to 80 and can cater for all events including Weddings.

The traditional pub bar offers a mix of reasonably priced beers from artisan breweries alongside some more familiar names. The large open fires and comfortable seating offer a cosy bolthole on wintry days.
In summer, the outside tables over looking the lavender field and children’s play area provide the perfect setting for relaxing on a beautiful day.
