More about exploring Preston Park Museum & Grounds
Get ready for one amazing journey as you step through the doors of Preston Park Museum!
Discover the Hall and its treasures. Experience what life was like in 1895 as you take a stroll down our replica Victorian Street. Plus for little and big kids alike there’s a chance to let off some steam in the Adventure Play Area and Skate Park.
Explore the history and discover the ambitions of the two families that made the Hall what it is today- the Fowlers (Georgian era) and the Ropners (Victorian era). Celebrating the museum's exciting and varied collection, highlights include Colonel Spence's 'Weapons Explosion', plus the Clephan and Ions Collection.
Walled Kitchen Garden and Orchard (seasonal opening - check times)
Restored to its former glory, it evokes the character of a working Victorian Kitchen Garden.
Using traditional methods, we grow a variety of heritage produce including seasonal fruit and vegetables, as well as beautiful flowers. Seasonal produce from the garden can be purchased from the Grocers on the Victorian Street.
The garden is open during spring and summer.
Victorian Winter Garden
Step back a hundred years into our very own Victorian Winter Garden, a unique and beautiful tropical paradise. The Winter Garden was added to the Georgian Hall in around 1890, a celebration of the Victorian fashion for indoor gardens and exotic planting. Sit in the shade of the majestic Trachycarpus palm or watch the sun setting across the park from the ideal viewpoint.
Preston Park Adventure Play Area & Skate Park
Explore the beautiful parkland, river walks and our Adventure Play Area.
The Skate Park is a large concrete course split into three main sections with some unusually shaped bowls & long flowing street sections.
It includes jumps, rollovers, spines, jump boxes, quarter pipes and grinding rails.
Park Opening Times:
Summer 6am – 9pm
Winter 7am – 5pm
Overflow car park gates are closed at 3.30pm Monday-Friday (winter months only). Gates are opened at 8.30am.
