Helen O'Grady Drama Academy
The aim of the Academy is to help young people, 5-17 years, develop: confidence, eEnthusiasm, self esteem, conversational ability and social skills. These aims are achieved through a highly developed, unique, drama programme. Each lesson is carefully planned. Curriculum includes introductory activities, speech, verbal dynamics, creative movement, dance drama, language development, structured improvisation, dialogue development, snippets, scene starters, mini-scripts, parent day presentations, end of year productions. Above all, our classes are fun!
All Principals and teachers have undergone extensive training in Helen O'Grady curriculum and teaching methods. All are CRB checked. Principals visit classes regularly, monitoring children's development and providing ongoing support for the teacher. Each lesson stimulates students to be fully involved and motivated. All students attend a one hour lesson, each week of the school year. The Helen O'Grady curriculum is structured in such a way children may join classes at age five and stay until they are seventeen and never repeat a lesson! Classes are held throughout the week in different locations - Doddinghurst, Benfleet, Billericay, Laindon, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Wickford Leigh, Romford, Chelmer Village.
Principal, Dina Nicol, always dreamed of becoming a teacher. As a child she attended acting, singing and dancing lessons, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She has a GNVQ Advanced Performing Arts and the Entertainment Industries, A-Level Dance, as well as LAMDA Acting qualifications and Trinity College Musical Theatre training. She has been involved in many Semi-Professional shows over the years including some in the West End, and is still part of her local Amateur Dramatics Group. She believes in the programme, as it really can make a difference to a child's life, she is living proof.

Here we have some great ideas, and they don't all involve being cooped up indoors! Get out and enjoy the cooler, fresh air and the crunchy leaves under foot - you can always return home afterwards for a hot chocolate and a snuggle
