Marlow FM

Your Local Community Radio Station
Marlow having it's very own local community radio station was just an idea at the beginning of 2007. Two successful month long trial broadcasts, one in June the same year and the second in the summer of 2009 and three years providing an online radio service followed before OfCOM awarded us a 5 year licence and we launched on FM. The number of volunteers involved with Marlow FM has grown from an initial figure of around 20 enthusiasts to well over 150 now and our coverage has increased from 30,000 to a potential 300,000.
Community radio gives local people of all ages a great opportunity to learn new life skills and, most importantly, have a lot of fun. Local groups and organisations can also benefit by having their voices heard over the airwaves and businesses alike by using the power of radio advertising to reach out to listeners with their specific message. Local news, views, traffic and weather updates, What's On?.. when and where, a myriad of interesting topics along with many useful tips and a great mix of music is available on a daily basis, 7 days a week. You can check out our full range of programmes online here
Marlow FM is run entirely by unpaid volunteers from the board of directors down who put a great deal of time and effort into not just maintaining the service but ensuring that our output is professional and of the highest standard. For one of the smallest community stations in the country, we broadcast an incredible amount of live radio; over 97 hours of live presented programming every week covering many subject matters and every genre of music. There really is something for everyone on Marlow FM.
Community stations are only allowed to raise 50% of their annual running costs through advertising and sponsorship. Of the 200 or so UK stations, only 4 or 5 at best actually manage to achieve that figure. The vast majority of stations have to try and raise the majority of the necessary funds needed to continue broadcasting each year themselves. Marlow FM receives no substantial amount of funding from any organisation and to date has been unsuccessful with any grant applications. However, we have been proactive with organising fundraising events like our annual 10K Radio Run and The Hidden Gems Awards. Hiring out The Marlow FM Roadshow to assist at events like May Fayre, Marlow Town Regatta & Festival, Marlow Carnival, Santa's Fun Run and Late Night Shopping brings in much needed funds and local companies and groups are discovering the value of using cost effective on air advertising to sell their products or promote their services.
If you think you'd enjoy being involved with Marlow FM or simply want to help support us by booking on air advertising spots, becoming a sponsor, or simply making a donation then go here  to find out how and for all the relevant contact details.
