Pat Miller School of Dance
The Pat Miller School of Dance aims to bring the joy of dance to all pupils regardless of their natural ability. The main focus is Freestyle Disco and Street Dance but as Pat also trained in Ballet and Tap there is a strong emphasis on good technique: standards are high, discipline is strong - but the classes are fun!
Children as young as 3 years can start to enjoy the lively dance classes on Saturday mornings at Branston Village Hall. The Nursery class helps to the children to develop their social skills as well as develop co-ordination and balance.
From the ages of 4 to 8 years the pupils are encouraged to take the N.A.T.D. Rainbow Awards: 7 exams resulting in a different colour of the Rainbow each time - the arcs slot together to make a super display when completed. These tests enable the children to feel a real sense of achievement.
Dance classes are so much more than just learning dance steps: regular attendance teaches youngsters the importance of commitment; they make new friends outside of their immediate school life; they can explore their creativity for interpreting music and choreographing dance moves; their confidence is boosted; they learn how to be a team player - and they are exercising.
Pupils from 8 years upwards are able to continue their progress by taking Medal Examinations. There are many performance opportunities for pupils: school and village fairs, local pantomimes and a showcase at The Brewhouse Theatre.
