Travelling Theatre Coming to Burton

c0cbfe9c5fa10ad439b560be870fd34f.pngState-of-the-art travelling theatre the 'Roundabout' is coming to Burton this Autumn! East Staffordshire Borough Council and the Brewhouse Arts Centre has announced the exciting schedule of events this September, as part of the ongoing Stay Local campaign which is aimed at helping the local area recover from the Coronavirus pandemic.

The ‘Roundabout’ is a ‘pop up’ theatre with LED lighting and surround sound. It will host a jam packed programme of live theatre, music and comedy, as well as family shows and workshops for young people between Thursday 23rd and Sunday 26th September; located at Bargates, next to the Meadowside Leisure Centre in Burton.

Roundabout Theatre: a Pop-up Travelling Theatrical Extravaganza
Thursday 23rd-Sunday 26th September

We’re excited to bring the Roundabout, a touring, flat pack 168-seater theatre to Burton-upon-Trent this Autumn. Roundabout is a completely self-contained theatre with state-of-the-art LED lighting and surround sound and is coming to Burton’s Bargates site (next to Meadowside Leisure Centre) between the 23rd & 26th of September for a jam-packed programme of live theatre, workshops and comedy. Black Love

Meet Aurora and Orion: Sister and Brother. They look after each other in their small London flat, filled with the memories of their parents’ Black Love. When that love is threatened, they have to find their way back to each other and to what it means to love whilst being Black. Using real-life stories, imagined worlds and new songs inspired by an R&B heritage, they begin a  journey to confront their own worst fears. BLACK LOVE is an explosion of form-busting storytelling, an ode to Black music, and those real stories we rarely hear.

Just the Tonic Comedy Club
Thursday 23rd September 9pm
Just the Tonic Comedy Club comes to Burton-on-Trent, with four of the finest acts on the circuit. Described as the best comedy club in the country by Jonny Vegas, be sure not to miss this laughter packed evening in the Rounabout Theatre. Acts include, Daliso Chaponda - finalist in Britian’s Got Talent, Jonny Awsum - madcap music and mayhem. Headliner at most UK comedy clubs, Simon Wozniak - one of the finest of the new breed and Tom Wrigglesworth - regularly heard on Radio 4.

This is a story. Charli’s story. It’s about losing your voice and going on a big adventure to find it again. A show for all the family from award-winning playwright Phoebe Eclair-Powell.

Lori is a professional chef. Bex waits tables to make ends meet. One night together in a walk-in fridge and the rest is history. Lori has big plans, but Bex is struggling. If we are what we eat, then Bex is in real trouble. It's not her fault though - the system is rigged. No-one on minimum wage and zero hours has the headspace to make their own yoghurt. HUNGRY is a new play about food, love, class and grief in a world where there's little left to savour.

May Day in Coventry, 2022. Sixteen-year-old Leigh has been chosen as May Queen. She’s buzzin, as is the rest of the city. The cider is flowing and St George’s flag is flying – but during the day’s festivities something happens. Something disturbing but maybe… unsurprising. As the year moves on in the City of Peace and Reconciliation, Leigh must face up to the events of that hot May Day, and dig deep within herself to ask – how did she get here? And how does she get out?
