Ideas for Your Kids' Breakfast

a8a64e3ffe26e0b13cfc2b9263b91e2b.jpgBreakfast is famous for being the most important meal of the day. Its reputation lies in its ability to provide the body with the energy it needs to make it through the day. This energy is especially important for growing kids. However, it isn’t always such an easy task to get the entire family ready before the kids rush off to school, which is why breakfast time often ends up suffering. In order for your kids to get the fuel and nutrition they need, their first meal should not be rushed and it should always include something healthy - with the exception of a couple of “cheat days”. Here are some great and easy ideas to help you make the best possible breakfast for your children in a reasonable amount of time.

Snack plate

In order to grow into healthy adults, kids need to eat foods from all or most of the food groups on a regular basis. Snack plates are a great way to provide your kids with the balanced meals that they need, and they are also incredibly easy to put together. These plates can include almost anything, just keep in mind that they should be versatile. Try to include some cheese for protein, a bit of salami, fresh vegetables such as baby carrots or cucumbers, and a fruit such as an orange or some grapes (instead of grapes, raisins are also a good idea). As an added bonus, you will be able to put 6b1348676269e87621a7e2ea139717be.jpgaway what is left of the snack plate and serve it later for actual snack time or as a light dinner.

Smoothies

Smoothies can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. They are a great way to provide all kinds of nutrients to your kids and they don’t take much time to put together, especially if you have a quality KitchenAid food processor to make it even easier for you (that includes not making too big of a mess in the kitchen). You can research KitchenAid processors in different online shops, depending on the state you live in. If you choose to make your kids smoothies, you have an infinite amount of options as far as ingredients go. One easy option is to make a sweet fruit smoothie using, for example, a cup of milk, some bananas and other frozen or fresh fruit. On the other hand, you might opt for a vegetable smoothie and blend together some spinach, cauliflower and carrots.

Cookies and milk

You should do your best to offer your kids a healthy and nutritious breakfast, however, it is okay to have some “cheat days” here and there. If you are running late or you simply want some “good cop” points, give your kids a plate of delicious cookies that morning (and every once in a while). You can even serve them with a glass of milk on the side.

The kids’ choice

Getting your kid 3eefbb1f1ee2710231918169aa5fa389.jpginvolved in the process of making breakfast, and giving them the freedom to choose some of the ingredients, will make them more eager to eat a healthy meal which they might otherwise resist. If you feel that this would take too much time in the mornings, then try to prepare the meal with your children the night before. Pancakes, for example, only take a minute to heat up in the morning and the process of making them could serve as bonding time between you and your kids; not to mention that you can use all kinds of delicious and healthy ingredients for the pancakes such as blueberries or oatmeal.

Hopefully, these ideas will allow both you and your children to enjoy breakfast time even more while providing your kids with proper nutrition that also tastes great.
