Theatricals was set up in May 2011 by Ashleigh Lowe with the aim of creating a children’s drama club with a difference.

It is a place where children feel only encouragement and have the freedom to express themselves and learn, at their own pace, in a safe and friendly environment. All abilities are welcome and no experience is needed.

Ashleigh believes drama is so much more than the end performance, it’s the journey, the challenges, the team effort, commitment and sense of achievement that makes it all so special.

Many children go to Theatricals to help with self confidence - it’s amazing what an hour and a half a week can do to change a child’s life. Not only self confidence but attitude, school behaviour, communication and a great sense of belonging and friendship.

Ashleigh holds a National Diploma in The Performing Arts, a Foundation Degree - Theatre In The Community, and a BA Honours Degree - Drama and Performance Studies. She has performed in a number of theatres and locations including NIA Birmingham, The Cresent Theatre Birmingham, Parc and Dare Hall Cardiff and The Norbery Theatre Worcestershire. Street theatre is what she enjoys the most and she was fortunate enough to perform in the International Arts Festival, in Perth Australia in 2010.

Ashleigh says: “The performing arts has always been my passion. From an early age I was captivated by musical theatre and just knew it would always be a big part of my life. Both personally and academically. My vision for Theatricals in the not so distance future is to expand, with more clubs in different areas - making our fabulous workshops accessible to more children and more communities.
