Sow and Grow with Lorraine Pascale

edec07252b8aa8e6af49469b5ffd2694.jpgLorraine Pascale, innocent drinks and not-for-profit GIY (Grow It Yourself) have teamed up to engage and excite kids about eating healthy fruit and veg.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage kids to ‘grow their own’ and get outside. Research has shown that children who grow their own food are more likely to eat fruit and veg. This in turn will mean they show higher levels of nutrition knowledge which will mean their healthy eating habits are more likely to continue throughout their lives.

Lorraine Pascale has grown her own produce for years having grown up on a farm in Devon.  She says: “As a mum, I know how difficult it can be to get kids to eat their all-important portions of fruit and veg. For me, one of the best ways to get kids excited about the healthy stuff is to get them involved in making their own food – and that starts with growing their own.  My daughter Ella and I have enjoyed growing lots of different types of veg over the years, and I’m absolutely positive it has played an important part in her healthy outlook to nutrition which is why I’m so excited to be part of innocent’s Sow & Grow campaign this spring.”

The campaign has been run in Ireland for the past 4 years by innocent and GIY to help provide 20,000 children with everything they need to grow fruit and veg in classrooms. It’s now come to the UK and over 3,300 schools a3a446473035b0a2d6a1ceb032973729.jpghave signed up to get their growing kits which include seeds, information and lesson plans. 100,000 kids are set to get everything they need to get growing – and, it’s all free!

Kids up and down the country are being encouraged to upload photos and growing diaries to be in with the chance of winning monthly prizes here
