Support Diverse Abilities in 2019
Diverse Abilities is Dorset’s disability charity supporting children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities since 1955. This year you can take part or attend one of their diverse events to raise money for the charity.
Skydive 2019, 30th March 2019
Your challenge of free-falling will last for a few minutes, but for people we support and their families their challenges can be for a lifetime. With your help, they can be there to provide vital care and support to children and adults with physical and learning disabilities in Dorset.
With no previous experience required, your tandem skydive will provide you with the opportunity to freefall at either 10,000ft or 15,000ft whilst attached to a professional instructor. All tandem skydives include a magical 5 minute parachute ride across the Salisbury Plains where the awesome views include sites of prehistoric interest.
Dorset Neon Run, 27th April
The Dorset Neon Run is a 5k neon night run open to anyone over the age of 12 in the iconic Poole Park with the aim of having fun! Join up to 1,000 other neon runners and run, walk or skip the 5k route whilst lit up in neon face paint, glow sticks, glow bracelets and fluorescent tutus – whatever takes your fancy – before returning to show off your bling under UV lights and shake your thing to music at the end.
Wing Walk, 2nd June
Experience a one of a kind thrill by taking on a wing walk whilst raising vital funds to support children and adults living with disabilities.
Flown by a fully qualified wing walking display pilot, you’ll get the opportunity to complete flypasts, zoom climbs, steep dives and banks in front of friends and family with speeds of up to 120mph.
The challenge lasts for 10 minutes and you’ll be provided with a comprehensive safety briefing by the flying team before you’re then strapped into your harness to begin your adventure.
Ride London, 4th August
Starting in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and then continuing on a 100-mile route through Central London and the stunning countryside of Surrey, you’ll then return to the iconic crowds of London with a final finish via The Mall.
Celebrity Rugby Lunch, 13th September
2019’s scrum and swing low at Hoburne Holiday Park, Christchurch.
Since the event started in 2010, more than £197,000 has been raised for the charity and in the past they have welcomed celebrity guests including Paul Rendall, David Duckham MBE, Jeff Probyn, David Flatman and Conor O’Shea.
Your ticket includes:
- Networking drinks reception
- A three course meal
- Listen to great anecdotes and life stories from our celebrity speakers (TBA for 2019)
