Party Time for Adults with Disabilities

Almost 150 people gathered together in the ballroom at Bournemouth Pavilion for the Diverse Abilities annual party for adults in supported living.

Carers, support staff, volunteers and families joined the adults supported for an evening of celebration in true Victorian Steampunk style. Everyone in attendance enjoyed a three-course meal, a performance by Steamship Circus Performers and the band, Mischa and his Merry Men, got everyone on the dancefloor strutting their stuff.

The event has grown in popularity and size over the years and features an award ceremony. For the second year running these awards were funded by sponsorship from local company Nourish Care.

Mandy Cunningham, supported living deputy manager, said: “This event is something all staff and people we support look forward to each year. It’s great fun and a fantastic way to bring everyone together to show our appreciation and congratulate those who have overcome some particularly difficult challenges in the year.

“We were delighted Nourish Care offered to sponsor our awards yet again, so a big thank you to them for supporting us.”

The Supported Living team currently supports 38 people with disabilities across Bournemouth and Poole and not one of the adults left the party empty handed. A few of the winners included Lawrence for his bravery, Christopher for being the king of mischief, Jeff for being a top AFC Bournemouth fan and Graeme for being the most chilled.
