Proven Reading System
The Sounds Good Reading System specifically developed to help reluctant or struggling readers, especially where conventional teaching methods may be failing ̢ is bringing professional resources and support within the reach and budget of parents, via easy online access to www.soundsgoodreading.com.
With a genuinely verifiable 100% success rate, and already used in many schools by professional reading coaches, the 'Sounds Good' system is a flexible, adaptable, step-by-step approach; designed to reduce the challenges, pressures and stresses of learning, yet structured to achieve progress and personal successes every step of the way.
Unlike other reading programmes, this is not a rigid, prescriptive scheme - there are no set texts, no book lists to buy or timescales to hit - it's designed to be far more relaxed, natural and accessible for parents and learners alike. So Sounds Good Reading works with ordinary books, even comics, football magazines or Top Trumps cards; because familiar materials help reduce anxiety, resistance and conflict.
The Sounds Good Reading System has already proved successful for primary and older children, adult learners and, possibly most impressively, sufferers of dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD and ADHD, Asperger's syndrome and autism.
This new website puts the system firmly within the reach and budget of far more parents and carers than before; as creator Jan Ball says: "A good reading tutor can cost upwards of £45 per hour; but I hope by making Sounds Good Reading available via the web, many more parents will be able to give their children the help they need for a fraction of the cost".
The Sounds Good Reading System is the brainchild of Jan Ball - growing out of the tools and techniques she has found most effective in more than 10 years as a specialist 1-2-1 reading tutor. Having spent over 20 years working in education, following a Post Graduate Certificate in Education specialising in literacy, Jan's teaching experience covers all ages from 5 to adult in mainstream schools, special education and individual tuition; she is also a member of The Tutor and Assessment Register for The Hampshire Dyslexia Association. Alongside Sounds Good Reading, Jan maintains a specialist personal tuition service and works extensively in schools, extensively in schools raising attainment and providing professional expertise to improve literacy standards for all. She advises and mentors staff and parents while closely monitoring and evaluating effectiveness.
