National Trust: Upton House & Gardens GARDENS OPEN

Before the Bearsted’s the garden’s main purpose at Upton House was to provide food for the house, with few thoughts of pleasure & recreation.

Arriving with fresh ideas, Lady Bearsted set about improving the garden for leisure & pleasure. She commissioned Kitty Lloyd-Jones to advise on designs & planting.

Although a little overgrown due to the current limitations when you visit the gardens, reopened from 22nd June 2020, you can still see her influence in many areas.

You will need to book your visit in advance: by 3pm the day before your visit.
