Andoversford Primary School

Welcome to Andoversford Primary School.

We are a small school with big aspirations for our pupils!

At Andoversford, we strive to create a safe, engaging and challenging learning environment where every child is valued. Staff, parents, governors and the wider community all work together to make sure that all children are on the path to success from the very first steps in their educational journey. We offer an exciting and engaging experience, with rich curriculum topics and plenty of opportunities to develop a love of learning.

Our extensive grounds mean that we can offer excellent opportunities to take part in outdoor learning and sporting activities, which enhance the curriculum. Learning doesn't only happen in the classroom! Our central philosophy is to support pupils to make decisions, manage risks and take responsibility for themselves. In essence, we aim to make sure that children are well-prepared for the next phase of their education, but more importantly, that they are well-prepared for life!

The School Day

The school day begins at 8:40am when we open our gates and children can enter the classroom. Parents can drop children off from this time. We start the day with a Thinking Skills activity which is designed to wake up the brain before the register is taken at 8:50.

In the morning we have two active sessions in between lessons to help with focus and concentration. Children all take part in  a T.E.A.M activity (Ten Extra Active Minutes) which is a guided yoga, dance or Daily Mile session at 10:00 and a break time at 11:00 to ensure that they stay active throughout the day. Active children are not only healthier, but also can concentrate more and their academic performance increases.

At lunchtime we have PlayPod equipment, which the children use to stay active and engage in creative play. They can dress up, build dens, act out role play and generally have fun!

The School day ends at 3:10pm. Children are collected from the classroom door on the playground.

School Lunches: Hot School Meals

We work with Caterlink to provide a hot meal option for pupils. Menus change every term to suit the season and offer fresh ingredients! At Andoversford, parents can book school meals for the term in advance - no need to worry each morning! The Menu is sent home with a form to complete to select your child's choices. We also use an online payment system - Parent Pay - which helps with the organisation!

Some parents prefer to send a packed lunch for pupils.

We hold Healthy Schools status and encourage healthy eating at lunchtime. Chocolate bars, sweets and crisps should not be sent into school as part of a packed lunch.

For a range of healthy lunchbox ideas why not take a look at the Good Food guidance? Click here for details. The NHS also have lots of advice about packed lunches - follow the link here! Healthy Eating Policy

After School Clubs at Andoversford

We think that we provide an amazing range of after-school clubs, particularly given our small size!

As a small school, we have fewer teachers who are able to offer extra activities, therefore we are always limited with the number of after-school clubs that we are able to offer. Here are some examples of the clubs we offer: Construction Club, Board Games, Young Voices and Rugby Club.

We do also use external providers and volunteers to help us out. Could you join the growing team?

We work closely with The Ark Nursery and Pre-School, who operate on site. They offer additional childcare before and after school. Follow the link to visit their website.
