Young Raring2go! Review of Revell XXL Glider

2317_title.jpg

2317_image1.jpgThe Summer Action outdoor toys range from Revell includes the Flame Glider with a 1.2m wingspan. Outdoor games will guarantee summer fun!

My 10 year old son, myself and husband had the opportunity to €œfly€ The Revell XXL Glider in our local park recently.

The glider was easy to assemble and the picture instructions were clear, my son had fun putting the stickers on and when finished it looked very impressive. The age on the box is 6+ and I think any 6 year old child or older would have no trouble putting the glider together.

I have to say we picked a rather windy day but the instructions do say to use in little or no wind (not sure we would have had as much fine on a less windy day). We assumed the recreation ground we picked was large enough but how wrong we were!!  We followed the picture instructions and let go of the glider and it glided OK. Then hubby and son decided to throw it into the wind! The glider did a complete somersault and €œcaught€ the very strong wind. It glided for a long time and eventually came down in some tall conifer trees. Luckily we were able to retrieve it using some steps and a long pole (borrowed from a local resident) and decided to move to the far end of the park with the wind behind us.

We eventually got the hang of releasing the glider and we had an awesome hour, however I 2317_image2.jpgwould suggest using it in a very quiet park with little or no people around as the tip of the glider is weighted and I wouldn't want it to hit anybody. You definitely need a large open area to fly it.

My son would give the glider 10/10 and I thoroughly enjoyed the €˜family time' we had. I just didn't realise how €œgood€ the glider would fly. We had great fun with the glider and it will definitely be something we take out on family picnics etc.
