Review of the DIY Crystal Card Kit
The Crystal Art concept, commonly known as ‘diamond painting’, is a universally popular craft suitable for adults and children (ages 8+) alike and is available in a variety of formats, including greetings cards, wall art, sticker form (Crystal Art motifs) and LED wall canvases.
Having partnered with renowned artists such as Claudia Hahn (award-winning BBC wildlife artist), Randal Spangler (USA) and Kentaro Nishino (Japan), Craft Buddy Ltd have established the craft as a growing trend across mainstream Europe over the last 12 months. Its designs are now firmly set on the UK market.
“In recent years, there’s been a huge revival in crafts and do-it-yourself customization in the UK. From wedding invitations to jewellery, people are enjoying the feeling of accomplishment that comes from creating something with their own hands.” Gary Wadhwani, co-founder, Craft Buddy Ltd
The therapeutic benefits of Crystal Art are proven, with its ability to lower stress levels, increase attention span and develop cognitive skills. By combining Crystal Art with the tradition of card-making, the spirit of Christmas is given a unique twist.
My daughter, Zanthe, is almost 8 years old and LOVES craft! When she saw the kit she immediately asked if she could do it (bangs goes me having a go at something fun!). Everything she needed was in the kit so there was no extra cost or hunting around the house for glue etc!
We sat at our dinner table and looked at the instructions, and talked about what she needed to do. You keep the protective cover over the card and the crystals stick to the sticky card. Each crystal is kept in a labelled bag that has a letter or number corresponding to those on the cards. We then opened the packet and Zanthe chose which colour she wanted to start with. At this point I opened the packet and left her to it so I could cook tea! When I checked on her progress she seemed to be really enjoying it. She told me...
"It helps you to be focused, it is fun, calming and makes other people happy when you give them the card".
I would definitely recommend these to crafty children and adults (I really wanted to have a go!). They are simple to get started with as everything you need is included and as my daughter said, it is a relaxing activity which will bring others joy when you gift them the card. At £4.99 they are not much more than some cards you buy in shops, and these get the added sparkly, personal touch. We will definitely be getting some more of these, mainly so I finally get to do a fun, calming activity! I have also seen on their website that you can get personalised photos of your family, pet etc to bling up! A really fun idea!
