Review:

We have been lucky enough to review the ‘Osmo Coding Starter Kit.’ The Osmo product is completely new to us as a family, we have seen it advertised and have found that it looks very interesting and we have been pleasantly surprised at what a good product it is.

Firstly the set up of Osmo was really straight forward and was set up by a grown up on our 9 year old daughters Amazon Fire relatively quickly and is set out in a simple step by step fashion by following the instructions given.

The product itself came with the base as part of the starter kit and is very sturdy and durable. The one downside we found with the base is that it doesn’t pack flat which is a shame as that would have been ideal for travel. The game items come in a well made container and the individual pieces are solid and attractive, making them easy to use for the desired age range.   This pack came as part of a ‘Coding’ set which was perfect for our daughter. She has been keen on coding games over the summer and she needed aa35b583d254b2102233280176897423.jpgvery little help setting up the game and picking up how it works and how to play. This is a brilliant aspect of Osmo, it is complex enough to challenge and develop learning and skills but also simple enough to promote independence. It is a great game to enhance problem solving skills and brilliant for critical thinkers. Our daughter sat happily playing until we asked her to turn it off, this was nice to know that she was playing on something productive that was getting her mind to work rather than games that don’t offer enough!

Osmo allow parental oversight which is always a positive in this house as we like to monitor what our children have access to. Osmo offer lots of expansion packs at differing prices. On the whole this product is quite expensive and one that would require some thinking time before purchase, however, it is a very good product.

“I love the fact that it is so much fun and feels like a spy game.”

“When you get to level 2 there are tons of things to do like jump and collect pies instead of strawberries.”

“I would recommend it!”
