Bonfire Night Cupcakes #NatashaBakesCakes

For the cake
  • 4oz butter
  • 4oz caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4oz self-rising flour
  • 1oz cocoa
  • A pinch of salt
  • cocoa powder
For the icing
3oz butter
6oz icing sugar
Red and yellow food dye


Pre-heat your oven to 180oC fan. Put cupcake cases in a cupcake tray.
Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and mix until creamed
Sieve out the flour, salt and cocoa powder into a bowl, add one egg and a tablespoon of flour and mix until combined. Add the other egg and the rest of the flour mixture.
Evenly pour the batter into the cases and put in the oven for around 15-20 minutes
To make the icing put the butter in a bowl and mix until smooth add the icing sugar and mix until combined, then add a drop of yellow food dye and mix.
Paint thin lines of food dye in the piping bag then add the icing.
Take the cakes out when they are done (test with a metal skewer) and wait for them to cool.
Pipe swirls on the top and place the Matchmakers around the outside in a bonfire shape and enjoy.
