f56e498f634f2533c60652c927e4f2c8.jpgThis Year we are celebrating Roald Dahl 100! On 13th September 2016 Roald Dahl would have been 100 years old and it is definitely something to be hopscotchy about!

Born in Cardiff on 13th September 19-16 Roald Dahl joined the RAF at 23 years old. After becoming injured in WW2 he began to write-starting with stories for adults.

The first children's story he wrote was James and the Giant Peach - published in 1961 - it was a hit as has each and every subsequent book! Many of these stories have become classic adaptations for stage and screen.

"All you do is to look, At a page in this book, Because that's where we always will be. No book ever ends, When it's full of your friends"

This rhyme is from The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me.

To celebrate Roald Dahl 100 there will be gloriumptious treats and surprises for everyone, across the world, including Steven Spielberg's adaption of The BFG and the release of the Oxford Roald Dahl Dictionary-a fully functioning dictionary for children aged 8+ which celebrates the way Roald Dahl used language and created his own additions. The dictionary features full-colour illustrations by Quentin Blake.

The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Great Missenden will be taking a year-long journey exploring Roald Dahl's stories, characters and life through special displays and activities - starting in January with BOY and ending with THE MINPINS in December. Look out too for extra special Roald Dahl Day celebrations at the 1c112740a47714ff9738be09d7ebbfbf.jpgRoald Dahl Museum on Saturday September 17th.
