Panto superstar Chris Jarvis returns to Lighthouse this year!

Children's Tv Star Christ Jarvis As Buttons In Panto At Lighthouse Poole

It’s never to early to start talking about panto!

Your carriage awaits as Lighthouse, Poole’s centre for the arts, is delighted to announce Cinderella as its enchanting family pantomime this Christmas.

Return of Chris Jarvis

And following the success last year of its first panto produced entirely in-house, long-time Lighthouse friend Chris Jarvis will return to write and direct the show as well as appearing as Buttons.

“I’m really excited to be back at Lighthouse in a traditional comedy version of Cinderella that all the family will love, no matter what their age – everyone shall go to the ball!” says CBeebies star Chris, who revealed that the action is set in Ye Olde Poole where Cinderella is to be found toiling away at the Hardup Hall Hotel where Buttons is the bellboy.

Cinderella will be played by Charlotte Wood, the talented actor who appeared at Lighthouse last year in Beauty and the Beast.

“Charlotte is absolutely amazing,” says Chris. “She was our saving angel last year – as well as appearing in the show in her own role she was understudy for everyone else. That meant she had to know everyone’s part and be ready to go on at a moment’s notice, so I couldn’t be happier that she’s coming back – from understudy to title role in just 12 months. Brilliant!”

The production will also feature real Shetland ponies, as Lighthouse Chief Executive Elspeth McBain confirmed in welcoming Chris back to the fold: “Yes, Cinderella will feature real Shetland ponies as well as the real Chris Jarvis – we can’t wait to see him play Buttons!

“Panto is such an intrinsic part of the Lighthouse year and after the ups and downs of the last two years where we presented pantos despite the pandemic, we are making a magical sparkly new production that will bring Joy at Christmas time, across the generations.”

Bourne Free Family Show

Meanwhile, Chris and Charlotte are appearing at the Bourne Free Family Show in Bournemouth’s Meyrick Park on Saturday 8 July from 5-7pm.

Chris will be hosting the main stage entertainment headlined by comedy ventriloquist Max Fulham with Charlotte performing a set of songs, local entertainer Kev Stevens and the talented Steppin’ Out Academy.

It’s FREE to enter and gates open at 4.30pm; as well as the main stage there’s a fairground, crafts and sensory area with all proceeds being donated to Dorset Children’s Foundation.
