The Queen’s Jubilee 2nd-3rd June 2022

There are many ways you can get involved in Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

Street parties

The UK has a long history of organised street parties to celebrate national events. Why not organise one for your neighbours for the Platinum Jubilee?

You’re welcome to host parties right across the bank holiday weekend, or as part of The Big Jubilee Lunch (see below). Read guidance on how to host a street party.

If you’re planning to host a street party, you can share the details for people to find out more on our interactive map.

If you are a local authority, you can encourage these events by promoting them on your communications channels and facilitating any necessary road closures.

All events must comply with the public health guidance in place at the time.

The Big Jubilee Lunch

To coincide with the Platinum Jubilee, The Big Jubilee Lunch will be taking place on Sunday 5 June.

Every year since the idea began in 2009, The Big Lunch has encouraged communities to celebrate their connections and get to know each other a little bit better.

Following the success of the first Big Jubilee Lunch, to celebrate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, The Big Lunch will bring the Jubilee celebrations into the heart of every community again in 2022.

Beacon lighting

The UK has a long tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations through beacon lighting. You could light beacons or get involved in beacon lighting within your communities on the evening of 2 June.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

You can plant trees from October 2021 (when the tree planting season begins) through to the end of the Jubilee year in 2022 as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

Local authorities

Local authorities can organise and facilitate large scale Platinum Jubilee events and celebrations within their cities, towns and villages over the four-day bank holiday weekend.

For example, you could host your own civic occasion such as “The Mayor’s Jubilee Party”, “The Mayor’s Jubilee Parade” or “[Name of town or City] Platinum Jubilee Celebration”.

If you are planning to host a local authority-led event, share your details for people to find out more on our interactive map.

All events must comply with the public health guidance in place at the time.

Broadcast the TV feed

If you are a local authority, you could use large screens in public places to show TV coverage of the Jubilee for local people to enjoy the celebrations together, as well as give a boost to local high streets. Screenings could be accompanied by locally organised events or gatherings to mark the occasion.

There are some funding options for local authorities as part of existing schemes. Explore more about funds available.
